Joe Mazzulla has a great reaction to Kyrie Irving being a ‘bad guy’ in the eyes of Boston Celtics fans – FirstSportz

By beating the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals, the Dallas Mavericks advance to the NBA Finals after 13 years. Like this would be Luka Doncic‘s first chance at the championship, Kyrie Irving will make his fourth appearance. This time, however, the star will get the chance to play against his former team, the Boston Celtics.

Kyrie Irving’s damaged relationship with the Celtics is not unknown in the NBA world. Celtics fans also harbor intense resentment towards Irving, which will certainly have an impact on the upcoming series. However, the head coach of the Boston Celtics Joe Mazzulla gave a brilliant response to Irving being seen as the ‘bad guy’ by Boston fans.

Aren't we all in someone's eyes? We're all villains in someone's eyes.

Joe Mazzulla told reporters

The head coach showed his great sportsmanship spirit when he praised Irving for his great postseason. Mazzulla also showed respect for Irving’s career achievements by calling him “fun” to watch. The HC also stated that guarding Irving at the top spot in the finals series is the most important.

Boston fans felt let down by Irving when he left the team after playing for two seasons. Since then, Irving has also not held back from showing his true feelings towards the organization. While the star was fined for stomping on the team’s logo, fans also repeatedly threw water and booed the security guard. It would be interesting to see how the fans will treat the player during Game 1 at the TD Garden.

Joe Mazzulla praised the Mavericks duo ahead of the final

Doncic and Irving have proven to be one of the best backcourts in the league this season. The duo took the Mavericks to the finals with an incredible attacking partnership throughout the three rounds of the playoffs. The Celtics will have to strategize and plan to slow the pair down in the tough series.

HC Mazzulla is certainly aware of this, because he spoke highly of the duo. During the pre-finals press conference, Mazzulla recognized the coaching and contribution of the Mavericks’ role players while praising the scoring duo.

Well coached, well prepared. I think they're a great team. You obviously have two really good scorers but I think their role players are great at what their role is and what they're asked to do night in and night out.

said Joe Mazzulla

Considering the enormous talent of both teams on both sides of the field, the match will be very exciting. Regardless, the Celtics were the top-seeded team in the entire league during the regular season, the Mavericks fought battles to beat the West’s best teams. The series will undoubtedly be a treat for NBA fans.
