Joyce Perkins obituary – Windsor and Westbrook, CT

PERKINS, Joyce Ann (Butler) Joyce Ann (Butler) Perkins, 73, formerly of Windsor, beloved wife of Matthew S. Perkins, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2004 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Joyce was born August 6, 1930 in Hartford, daughter of the late Lester J. and Helen (Bond) Butler. She was predeceased by her beloved son, James M. Perkins, and is survived by her four surviving children: two daughters, Cheryl P. Horozy of Avon, Kellybeth P. Appell of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Edward L. Perkins and his wife, Catherine of West Hartford, Bruce G. Perkins and his wife, Karen of Peoria, AZ; ten grandchildren, Jason and Taryn Horozy of Avon, Christine and Michael Perkins of Windsor, Daniel, Ryan and Collin Perkins of West Hartford, Stephanie, Natalie and Matthew Perkins of Peoria, AZ. She is survived by her sister, Dolores E. Butler of Windsor; her brother, Lester C. Butler and his wife, Lorelei of Newington. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins ​​and friends. Joyce and her husband Matthew lived in Windsor for more than 50 years, where they raised their family. They spent summers with their family at their home in Westbrook. Joyce retired in 1998 as a supervisor from CT Transit, where she worked for 20 years. Family and friends will long remember her for her hospitable manners and often her overly generous heart. Family and friends may gather at 9:15 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Windsor. Her family will receive friends at the Carmon Funeral Home, Windsor, on Thursday, June 24 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
