Motorcyclist seriously injured in West Hartford crash

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car in West Harford on Monday.

According to Capt. Daniel Moffo of the West Hartford Police Department, the crash occurred near 433 South Main St. shortly before 2 p.m.

Moffo said the motorcyclist involved was taken to an area hospital and treated for serious injuries. The driver of the car suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was also taken to an area hospital.

After the crash, police closed South Main Street between New Britain Avenue and Beechwood Road. Traffic exiting Interstate 84 onto South Main Street was diverted north to avoid the area.

According to Moffo, the roads around the accident were reopened by 6 p.m.

The crash is under investigation by the West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team.
