Obituary of George Heller – Souderton, PA (1930-2015)

GEORGE W. HELLER George W. Heller, 84, of Souderton, PA passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Grand View Hospital. He was the loving husband of Arlene F. (Godshall) Heller for 55 years. George was born in 1930 in Pompton Lakes, NJ, the son of the late George and Agnes (Dorbacker) Heller. He was the eldest of two sons and the last survivor. George was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Immanuel Leidy Church, where he continued to participate in various social activities. In his younger years, George graduated from Nockamixon High School in 1950, where he played on the football and basketball teams. In 1951 he joined the Air Force and served four years. The Air Force trained him as an aircraft mechanic and stationed him in Fairbanks, Alaska and Dover, Delaware. In 1955, George worked at Riegel Paper Company in Milford, NJ, which later became James River Paper. He worked there for 40 years in the shipping and receiving department. After retiring in 1995, George enjoyed traveling and pursuing his interests in woodworking, stamp collecting and model trains. In addition to his wife Arlene, he is survived by a son, Russell, daughter-in-law Denise, and grandson Matthew of Warrenton, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Heller. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Leidy’s Church, 276 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964, where friends may meet the family from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. . Burial will take place in the adjacent church cemetery.
