Motorcyclist injured in West Hartford collision: police

WEST HARTFORD, CT – Local police say a motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a car on South Main Street Monday afternoon.

According to West Hartford police, the motorcyclist suffered “serious injuries” and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.


The driver of the car also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital for medical treatment, according to police.

Police said the crash happened near 433 S. Main St. around 1:53 p.m.

“As a result of the collision, West Hartford Police Department personnel closed South Main Street to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between New Britain Avenue and Beechwood Road,” the WHPD wrote in a statement.

Traffic exiting Interstate 84 onto South Main Street was also diverted north onto South Main Street to avoid the area, police said.

All roads were open again around 6 p.m. and traffic returned to normal.

Police said the crash is being investigated by the West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team and “remains an active and ongoing investigation.”
