Elaine Whitman obituary – Greeley, CO (1945-2021)

Elaine Whitman, age 75, of Greeley passed away on June 5, 2021. She was born in Greeley, Colorado; August 23, 1945. Growing up, the family lived in the Ault, Eaton, Kersey and Greeley areas. She graduated from Platte Valley High School in Kersey. She met Lyle at Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver; and as they say, the rest is history. Elaine and Lyle were married in December 1965 at St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greeley. After they married, they farmed in the Windsor, Galeton and Gill areas. Elaine was a devoted wife and mother. She was involved in all of her children’s activities growing up, whether it was being a scout shelter mom, a school class mom, bringing sweets on short notice, or just loving all the other kids her kids brought along to would take home. Anyone who knew Elaine knew how much she loved her children and pets, whom she always called her “furry” grandchildren. Elaine’s interests included gardening, flowers, crafts (Diamond Paint Bead work) and watching tennis. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and holidays – the family always raved about her taco salad and frog eye salad (acini de pepe). Elaine is survived by her husband, Lyle Whitman; Children: Gerald Dean Whitman, Greeley, Colorado Jolene Renee Whitman, Greeley, Colorado, Brett (Carleen) Davis, Greeley, Colorado, and Heidi Boehm, Denver, Colorado. Siblings: Robert (Loraine) Miller of Milliken, Colorado, Ronald (Karen) Miller of Greeley, Colorado, and Sheila (Lonnie) Helton of LaSalle, Colorado. Elaine was predeceased by her daughter Patricia “Patty” Davis, and by her parents Henry and Lydia Miller. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, beginning with a viewing at 10 a.m., followed by the 11 a.m. service at Greeley First Assembly of God, 3000 W. 16th St, Greeley.
