Boston police arrest man on gun and drug charges after major fight in Roxbury

BOSTON – Boston police officers responded to a report of a large fight Saturday evening in Roxbury and arrested a man on suspicion of multiple firearms and drugs.

On June 1 at approximately 11:16 p.m., District B-2 officers were dispatched to the Annunciation Housing development at 60 Annunciation Road, where a group of more than 30 people were reportedly fighting.

Upon arrival, officers saw a large crowd drinking and causing a disturbance.

As officers monitored the scene, they observed a man dressed in black separate from the group, walk behind a parked vehicle, appear to be hiding something underneath and then rejoin the crowd.

Upon investigation, officers found a firearm hidden in a sock behind the vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Joshua Carvahlo, 25, of Foxboro, was arrested at the scene.

During the booking process in District B-2, a large bag containing approximately 14 grams of suspected crack cocaine was found on Carvahlo.

The recovered firearm was a black Ruger LCP .380 Auto with the serial number obliterated.

It was loaded with six rounds of .380 ammunition, although none were in the chamber.

Carvahlo is expected to face charges in Roxbury District Court, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, violating the serial number of a firearm, possession of a firearm with 1 prior violent and/or drug offense, and possession with intent to distribute class B drugs.
