Megan Thee Stallion announces new album ‘Megan’

Hot girls summer is officially here. Megan Thee Stallion will release her new album, Megan, on June 28 via Hot Girl Productions. The rapper announced the album’s title and release date during a concert in Atlanta, sharing the album art and pre-save link with the audience.

The announcement on Sunday night came after Megan had to cancel her concerts in Atlanta on Friday and Saturday evenings due to a water main break in the city. “Unfortunately, we will have to reschedule tonight’s show at State Farm Arena due to the massive water main break the city of Atlanta is experiencing,” she wrote on social media. “I’m extremely disappointed because I had a huge surprise for the Hotties tonight, but we will follow the mayor’s protocol.”

Earlier on Friday, Megan tweeted that she would be sharing a “special announcement” during her show in Atlanta, which she was forced to postpone until Sunday.

Megan previously discussed the album in an interview with L’OFFICIEL last month she said she considers the project a “rebirth.” It is her first LP since the shooting trial of Tory Lanez was completed last August.

“This is music I would like if I wasn’t Megan Thee Stallion,” she said in the interview. “I don’t want to say that I tap into other genres. I just use different sounds. But it’s still very Megan Thee Stallion. It won’t feel like I went so left. It will feel true to me. You’d almost say, “I didn’t think she would have rapped about that, but this sounds great.”

About the tone, she added, “I’m really not focused on the negativity on my album. I have a lot of different songs on the album because my emotion doesn’t stop at anger. My emotion does not stop at sadness because I have grown and started to feel more things. I started to feel really happy. So there are songs on the album that are about the positive times that I’m starting to experience. You get a little bit of everything. It gives you all the emotions.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s latest LP, Traumazine, arrived in 2022. This year she has unveiled three snake-themed singles, ‘Hiss’, ‘Wanna Be’ and ‘Boa’. If Women’s health‘s April cover star, the rapper explained that her snake motif is a symbol of rebirth. “They are feared, misunderstood, respected and healing,” she said.

Her headlining Hot Girl Summer tour continues through July 27, where she will perform at the Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C.
