Atlanta Braves News: Charlie Morton posts series win, Hurston Waldrep shines in AAA debut, more

At this point, it seems fair to suggest the Braves will take a series, but this one comes without a hitch. And that’s exactly what Charlie Morton delivered on Sunday when he returned after a horrific performance to start the week against the Nationals. Yes, he gave up five walks, but also just one hit and zero runs over six innings in a 3-1 win over the Athletics.

Another notable development is that after the Braves scored nine runs in Saturday’s loss, they hit 3-12 runners into scoring position on Sunday. That may not seem like much, but considering how bad the Braves have been in such situations in recent weeks, it’s a noticeable improvement. Additionally, the productivity of several hitters appears to be increasing, including Jarred Kelenic, Michael Harris II and Matt Olson.

The Braves will enjoy a much-needed day off on Monday before hitting the road.
