Warren Wynn obituary – Limerick, PA

WARREN JAMES WYNN, 78, OF LIMERICK Warren James Wynn, 78, of Limerick passed away at his home on Saturday, May 10. Jim was a loving husband and best friend to his wife of 57 years, Joan (Heidel). Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late Warren J. “Dutch” and Maxine (Hoffman) Wynn. Jim graduated from Norristown High School in 1954. He was a member of the Heidelberg UCC Church in Schwenksville, where he served on the church council. Jim remained an active member of the Norristown Rotary for 36 years, where he was past president. Jim was a member of the Boy Scouts of America in his youth and returned to scouting as an adult as a Webelo Scout Leader. Jim started his automotive career at Wynn’s Garage, East Norriton, and became a Volvo dealer in 1964. In 1979, under his leadership Jim Wynn, Volkswagen, Inc. was founded. set up. He proudly developed his business into a four-generation company, The Wynn Group, Norristown. He was a member of the Norristown, Philadelphia and PA Auto Dealers Association, where he was past president. Jim was a frequent participant on regional and national dealer boards and received numerous awards during his career, including the 1994 National Automobile Dealers Association Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award. In 1985, he was named Employer of the Year by the Norristown BPW. Jim was a former member of the Central Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and BBB of Philadelphia and served on the advisory board of the Central Montgomery County Vo-Tech School. A highly respected philanthropist in his community, Jim believed strongly in giving back. He supported many local youth organizations and volunteered his time wherever the need arose, encouraging his family and those around him to do the same. As an outdoorsman and avid fisherman, he traveled far and wide in search of the next catch. Jim loved traveling with his wife, especially to the mountains and the Florida Keys. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Jim enjoyed spending countless hours in the stands at their numerous events, full of love and support as their number one fan. Surviving with his wife are daughters Cynthia Cook, wife of Matthew Patrick, of Schwenksville, and Karen Iobst, wife of Joseph, of Florida; son Jeffrey Wynn, husband of Susan, of Spring City; sister Judith Cooke, wife of William, of Elverson; and grandchildren Benjamin (Jayme) and Tyler Cook, Chelsea, Perri and Olivia Iobst, Adam Hartzell and Samantha (Andrew) Gordon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 19, 2014 at Heidelberg UCC, 251 Perkiomen Ave., Schwenksville, PA 19473, with Rev. Malcolm Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Limerick Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held on May 19 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
