Man arrested for disorderly conduct in Dewey Beach

DEWEY BEACH, Del. – One man is now behind bars after disorderly conduct in Dewey Beach.

On Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 1:32 a.m., Dewey Beach Police responded to a reported altercation in the 16000 block of Coastal Highway. Upon arrival, officers spoke with several people who were present on the scene. During the investigation, a witness reported that one of the parties involved may have had a firearm with him. Officers identified and approached Bryce S. Byers, a 28-year-old Dover resident. Byers showed physical signs of a recent altercation, including swelling, bruising and bleeding.

One of the responding officers noticed Byers exhibiting suspicious behavior, including holding a knife position and keeping his right hand hidden in the front pocket of his hoodie. When questioned about the presence of a firearm, Byers attempted to elude police but was apprehended by an officer who discovered a loaded Glock 42 .380 pistol concealed in Byers’ possession. Bryce also showed signs of intoxication. Police say he had a valid Delaware Concealed Deadly Weapons permit. While in custody, a blood search warrant was obtained and a blood sample was collected for further analysis.

Bryce S. Byers was charged with possession of a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct by fighting or engaging in violent, tumultuous or threatening conduct. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $850.00 secure bond.
