Jack Zyska’s home run sends UCF to the Tallahassee regional final

TALHAASSEE, Fla. – Jack Zyska broke a tie with a home run in the seventh inning and the University of Central Florida defeated Stetson 5-2 on Sunday in an elimination game in the Tallahassee Regional of the NCAA Tournament.

Stetson had a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning before UCF rallied with three runs. The Knights scored their final run in the eighth.

In the seventh, Andrew Sundean tied the score with a two-out pinch-hit double, which scored Andrew Brait. Zyska followed with a two-run homer for a 4-2 lead.

In the eighth, Braden Calise homered to left for the final score.

UCF (37-20) took on regional host Florida State later Sunday with a super regional berth on the line. The Seminoles would advance with a win, while UCF would need a win on Sunday and another on Monday to advance.

UCF reliever Dominic Castellano (7-0) threw the seventh and eighth for the win. Kris Sosnoski finished for his sixth save.

Leadoff hitter Kyle Jones had two singles and scored both runs for the Hatters (41-22). ___
