NBA champion insults Caitlin Clark’s teammates after foul with Chennedy Carter

Former NBA forward Matt Barnes was among the last to confront Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark when he took a shot from Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter, calling out Clark’s teammates for not defending her.

“So there’s a hot topic going on right now: Caitlin Clark says she was shot cheaply into the air,” Barnes said. “I mean, she’s been getting beat up all season. Hard screens, elbows, knockdowns. It is what it is. She’s not the first, she won’t be the last. My problem and my question is: where the f–k are her teammates? Where are you? Where are the rest of the Indiana Fever?’

Barnes then referenced his own NBA career, saying he protected Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as Blake Griffin and Chris Paul with the LA Clippers.

“I’ve seen some girls grin when she gets knocked down, half-ass trying to pick her up. Like, you have to protect the asset, protect the star,” Barnes said. ‘…She’s the star. You always protect your star. I was someone who protected the stars. “If you talk to Kobe (Chris Paul), Blake (Griffin), the list goes on, it becomes a problem.”

Barnes concluded his message to the Fever by saying, “You’re supposed to be a family. And you wonder why you guys are at the bottom of the league now, because you guys don’t protect each other, man. Coach doesn’t do anything about it, players don’t do anything about it. You should be ashamed of it. But the rest of the competition will continue to test her. That’s what they have to do. It’s your boys’ job to have her back, and each other’s backs. It has to be better, ladies.”
