Florida State regional baseball title start time in flux, UCF vs. Stetson postponed

Florida baseball could experience weather delays for the second day in a row.

Seeking their first regional championship since 2019, the Seminoles await the winner of Sunday’s loser’s game between UCF and Stetson.

The game at Howser Stadium went into a weather stoppage in the bottom of the eighth inning, with the Knights leading 5-2.

The tarp is currently on the field at Dick Howser Stadium and it has been raining in the Tallahassee area. Even when it stops raining, lighting remains a threat.

However, FSU announced the game will resume at 3:50 p.m

It is too early to determine whether FSU’s 6 p.m. start time will be affected by the delay.

Florida State enters the regional final at 44-15. It’s the most wins for the Seminoles since a 46-23 record and an appearance in the College World Series in 2017.

FSU’s 21-win improvement from 2023 is the best in the nation.

FSU has started 2-0 in the regional round 15 times since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1999.

This is the second day the Tallahassee Regional has faced a weather delay, with Saturday’s action postponed due to limited rain.

Saturday’s delay caused the Seminoles’ first pitch at 6 p.m. against UCF to be pushed back to 8 p.m.

Once the stoppage is over, the remaining innings of the UCF vs. Stetson, with the winner advancing to face the Seminoles in the regional championship game, currently scheduled for 6 p.m.
