A moped rider is in serious condition after an accident in Waipahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu police say a man is in serious condition after a collision with a moped in Waipahu Friday evening.

Police officials say the incident occurred around 10:48 p.m. on Farrington Highway, when a 51-year-old male moped rider rear-ended him while traveling westbound on Farrington Highway.

According to the police, the moped rider was thrown onto the roadway.

Police say the unknown motorist continued driving west without stopping to render aid or provide information.

Officials say the moped rider was transported to a local hospital via emergency medical services in serious condition.

According to the police, the moped rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

It is unknown at this time if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
