Georgia trooper struck by wrong-way driver on Riverwatch Parkway

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A Georgia State Patrol trooper was struck by a wrong-way driver on Riverwatch Parkway Friday evening.

According to GSP, the officer was driving near mile marker 3.5 when he was struck head-on by a Toyota 4Runner traveling in the wrong direction.

Officials say the officer was seriously injured and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The officer and the driver of the Toyota 4Runner were taken to Wellstar MCG, authorities said.

GSP says this is an active investigation.
