Michael Dougherty obituary – Longmont, CO (1974-2017)

Michael Stephen Dougherty found eternal peace on Sunday, May 21, 2017, when he passed away in Longmont, Colorado. Michael enjoyed the outdoors, loved fishing and remained active in hiking and enjoying nature. Michael liked to discuss current events and knew a lot about cars. He attended Front Range Community College and worked for several years at Frontier Honda in Longmont, where he became friends with many co-workers and customers. Michael was a member of the Heart of Longmont Methodist Church, where he had many friends. The great comedian Robin Williams once said, “I think the saddest people always go out of their way to make people happy.” Michael loved to make people laugh. He knew how to tell great jokes and put a smile on almost everyone’s face with hilarious one-liners. It brought him great joy to interact with others and help where he could. Michael, who lived in Georgia during his teens and young adults, enjoyed barbecuing and cheering on his Atlanta Falcons. He is survived by three daughters: Michelle McCreary of Augusta, Georgia; Savannah Aulton of Topeka, Kansas; and Stephanie Dougherty of Fort Collins, CO; as well as his parents, Stephen Dougherty of Cartersville, Georgia and Donna Ilgen of Quincy, Illinois, and three grandchildren: Logan Dean, Derek and Audrey, all of Augusta, Georgia. Friends and family will gather for an informal memorial service for Michael on Thursday, June 1, at 4:30 PM at Heart of Longmont Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart of Longmont Church would be appreciated by the family. Please visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share your condolences.
